Press Piling with Water Jetting

This system is similar to that above but with the inclusion of an integral high pressure water jetting system, which facilitates installation of sheet piles in to stiffer granular and cohesive ground conditions up to a maximum value of n=50, to depths of circa 20m. The water jetting reduces the pressure bulb at the toe of the pile by temporarily and locally loosening soils. Simultaneously the returning water lubricates the pile surface and the interior of the interlock reducing friction and the tendency for the pile to plug.

The advantages are as the volume and pressure of water can be adjusted according to requirements, and as the water is applied only where it is needed large voids are not created. The soil parameters quickly return to their normal state, which is evident by the adequate reaction force available in pressing-in the following piles.
